This project is focused on the development and characterization of bioactive glass based scaffolds, e.g. including porous composites based on biodegradable polymers and bioactive glass, for bone tissue engineering and regeneration.
The different targets of this project include:
(a) Improvement of the mechanical integrity of bioactive glass based porous scaffolds by polymer coatings
(b) Incorporation of polymers as carrier of therapeutic drugs
(c) Long term characterization of porous composite scaffolds (in vitro and in vivo)
